The website uses cookies and similar technologies to ensure the correct functioning of procedures and improve user experience while using online applications. This document provides detailed information on the use of cookies and similar technologies, how they are used by and how to manage them.

A cookie is a short piece of text (letters and/or numbers) that enables the web server to store user  information on the client (the browser) in order to reuse them during the same browsing session (session cookies) or later, even after several days (permanent cookies). Cookies are stored by the single browser on the specific device being used (computer, tablet, smartphone) according to  user preferences.
Similar technologies, such as web beacon, transparent GIFs and all types of local storage introduced by HTML5, can be used to collect information on user behavior and services used.
Hereinafter the word “cookie” will refer to cookies and all similar technologies.

Types  of cookies
Based on their features and use, different types of cookies can be distinguished :

  • Strictly necessary cookies: they are essential for the correct functioning of the website, for instance they are used to manage any login and access to all reserved functions of the website, or simply to enable the website server-side features for dynamic web pages. Their duration is strictly limited to the browsing session (these cookies are deleted once the user closes the browser). Disabling cookies may affect the use of some technical services which are necessary for the functioning of the website.
  • Analysis  and performance cookies: they are used to collect and monitor the traffic and use of the website anonymously. For instance these cookies, even without identifying the user,  enable to detect if the same user returns to connect at different times. They also allow to monitor the system and improve performances and usability. These cookies can be disabled without any loss of functionality.
  • Profiling cookies: these are permanent cookies used to identify (anonymously or not) user  preferences and improve browsing experiences. The website does not use this type of cookies.

Third party cookies
Visiting a website users may receive cookies both from the website itself (“owners”) and from websites managed by other companies (“third parties”). A significant example is the presence of “social plugins” for Facebook, etc. They are parts of the visited web page  which are directly created by the above-mentioned websites  and are integrated into the page of the host website. Social plugins are generally used to share the contents on social networks.
The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all sites managed by third parties. The handling of information collected by “third parties” shall be regulated by the relevant information to which the user is kindly asked to refer.

Google Analytics
The website also includes components transmitted by Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Also in this case these cookies come from third parties, they are collected and managed anonymously in order to monitor and improve the performance of the host website (performance cookies). Some cookies of Analytics are persistent.
Google Analytics uses “cookies” to collect and analyze anonymously information on user behaviour  on the website (including  user’s IP address). This information is collected by Google Analytics, which processes them in order to draw up reports for operators concerning activities on the website itself.  This website does not use (and does not allow third parties to use) Google Analytics service to monitor or collect personally identifiable information. Google neither associates user’s IP address to any other data in its possession nor seeks to connect an IP address with user’s identity. Google can also communicate this information to third parties when required by law or where such third parties process the information on behalf of Google.
For further information, please refer to the link below:
The user can selectively disable the action of Google Analytics by installing on the browser the opt-out component provided by Google. To disable the action of Google Analytics, please refer to the link below:

Duration of cookies
Some cookies  (session cookies)  remain active until the user closes the browser or logs out  from the website. Other cookies "survive" and are still available for further visits of the user.
These cookies are called persistent and their duration is set by the server at the moment of their creation. In some cases there is an expiry date, in others the duration is unlimited.
The website does not have its own persistent cookies, while some cookies of Google Analytics are persistent.
While browsing the pages of, the user can interact with websites run by third parties that can create or modify permanent and profiling cookies (for example clicking on the links of Facebook, etc.)

Cookie management
The user can decide whether to accept the cookies or not by using  browser settings. Warning: completely or partially disabling  technical cookies can compromise the use of the website functions reserved for registered users. On the contrary, public contents can be used even if cookies are fully disabled.
Disabling “third party” cookies does not affect browsing in any way.
The setting can be defined specifically for different websites and web applications. Furthermore the most modern browsers allow the user to choose different settings for “owners” cookies and for third party” cookies.
For example, in Firefox the user can decide whether to accept or not the different types of cookies  and can delete them selecting the menu Tools ->Options -> Privacy through a control panel.
